WILLIS Edgar Clarke

I was lucky to know my Grandmother as she lived a long life, but never met my Grandfather as he was taken when even my Mother was very young. Willis Edgar Clarke and Emily Matilda Jordan of Gnowangerup.

DEATH 18.08.1942 • Gnowangerup, WA
Willis Emmigrated 1910 with his brothers Ernest William (Died Mouchet Farm, France 1916 AIF) and Brother Hugh died Gnowangerup 1967 aged 85.
Willis and Emily Married 1919 the speculation is that Willis and Emily were married on a Wednesday because that was the day of the train service from Gnowangerup to Katanning.

Willis bought a property west of Gnowangerup which they called 'Camballup'. Willis was a keen horseman and competed at the annual agricultural shows.
Willis was accidentally buried alive in a gravel pit, and later died in hospital from internal injuries. He is buried at the Gnowangerup cemetary.
Emily never re-married, and died at Nazareth House in Hamilton Hill, WA. Emily died on the 9th March 1976, and is buried at Fremantle cemetary.
